'Snow' Joke Any More!

There seems no let up in the snow here in West/Central Scotland. Today we awoke to falling snow and it hasn't stopped all morning. Traffic is grid locked all around and things are grinding to a standstill. This is the second year in a row when snow has caused so much disruption and serious thought needs to be given as to how we cope with it next time. Other countries manage it so why can't we?

Meanwhile here are some more photos of Cumbernauld taken last Thursday - we've had about another 12" of snow since then. It does look pretty but after a while all snow pictures seem to look the same...

Wherever you are, stay safe and warm xxx

  1. It does look very pretty, but they should do more to stop the disruption.. other countries do cope much better and we seem to be getting more and more snow every winter now. Saying that, we only have thick Ice and no snow, but then that still causes major difficulties on the roads and now they say they are running out of grit!!!
    Stay warm xxxxx

  2. Dont envy you the snow. We are getting some up north of us today. It can stay there lol. As long as it is cold they can make snow at the ski areas and thats good enough for me. But hubby wont move to a warmer climate so here I sit in my workshop most of the winter. Going out to visit, errands and craft and mini supplies.

  4. I really can't imagine what it is like to live with all that cold white stuff as we approach the hottest part of the year Downunder but somehow it does look like Christmas should look. No wonder Santa dresses in a warm suit and drinks hot toddies in the North! He prefers a cold beer, sunhat and thongs (flipflops) on his feet down our way.

  5. Thanks for your comments ladies! I feel a bit of a wimp complaining about the snow but it really has a negative effect on our lives, and I feel helpless at not being able to do anything about it - or maybe that's the control freak in me freaking out!! So Susan, if you ever want to experience this first hand (are you sure???) then I'd be happy to house swap with you for several months every year..lol!!

  6. I'd be up for that Allison, I loathe summer Downunder, but you'd have to share this house with my other 'arf, he wouldn't go to a northern winter for a million quid! Come to think of it, my dogs probably wouldn't go either so I'm guessing you'd prefer snow to taking care of this lot!!

  7. I really do sympathise with you, the novelty has worn off! It does look beautiful and I have to go to the mountain Christmas day for that but at least I have a choice here. I hate to tell you - but I'm going to - it was 32 degrees in my sunny garden today and I lounged in a vest reading magazines, I even had to have an ice lolly! Actually, it's a bit of a freak mini heatwave, it's not this warm usually! I hope you soon get a thaw, but at least it won't stop you making minis! Gill x
