Back to the Conservatory!

Hello!!!! It's been a long time since I last posted!  Over the past month I've had frenzied mini sessions and then done nothing!  At the moment I'm found with crochet hook in hand (show you what I've been working on later!)  Anyway, I've been back working on my conservatory.

I always thought it needed a long sideboard along the back wall beneath the print and, as usual, we miniaturists have to make or adapt pieces to suit. Soooo....this sideboard was made from wooden newel posts and my favoured mountboard. It was painted and distressed and finally given a light coat of woodstain to dull it down a bit!  I'm very pleased with how it turned out...

I've changed my mind about the sofa I made a while back and instead took a couple of chairs from a garden set which were a very naff glossy pine and gave them the distressing treatment too. The fabulous cushions were received from a swap friend in the US.

I've had a rummage through all the miniatures I have accumulated over the years that were still needing a home and I've tried to use what I can here.  Of course there's always room for more but for now we have a distressed set of storage boxes, an old trunk, knitting basket, magazines, books, plants - maybe you'd be better having a look at the photos and see for yourself.
I can't put a name to this style, any suggestions? Folksy? Americana? Primitive? Haven't a clue! But I like how it's turning out :)

Hugs to all x

  3. I think it's all coming together really nicely. I have completed a couple of smaller projects lately and they are such fun aren't they. Plus they are a great way of using up all the bits and pieces we always have stashed away!
I absolutely adore the large 'Americana' picture you have on the back wall.

  5. It all looks so wonderful! I really love the sideboard! It is amazing and very vintage looking! With the painting in the background that is Primitive and all of the other wonderful items it could also be Americana.

    Thus: Primitive Americana
LOL......that took alot of thought from me!

  6. I wish I could be sitting there having tea and cookies. It looks wonderful. You mini people are amazing. I've chosen my first mini project. A very small project. Get it? Okay, maybe it wasn't that funny except to me. I will tackle it this week. Who knows, I may work my way up to a small room.
